Explorientation Brunch Tickets

Brief
For the first day of move-in weekend (named “Explorientation” as a merge of “orientation” and “Explorers”, La Salle University’s mascot), the Offices of Orientation and Dining Services needed physical tickets for the complimentary brunch offered to families helping their students move onto campus. So as not to overwhelm the dining hall, they needed tickets for four separate time slots. Being for a university event, they requested that the design fit with the university’s brand style guidelines.
Design
My main goal with these designs was to make sure they were visually different enough that the workers at the dining hall would be able to recognize them at a glance. I picked five colors from La Salle’s brand style guide (white, gold, pale yellow, dark blue, and pale blue) to rotate within each variation’s design.
I used blue as a base for the 10am and 12pm tickets’ color schemes, but I flipped which was used for the background and which for the trim. For the 9am and 11am tickets, I used the same pale yellow for the background, but I chose white and gold since they contrast enough in this context to differentiate the trim.
For the fonts, I used two specified in La Salle’s brand style guide. If I could do the design over now, having learned more about accessible design, I would use a wider/larger font for the time slot information so that students and families with low vision would be able to read it more easily.
